Syllabus for SSC CGL

The full form of SSC CGL is Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Examination. This is a national-level exam that helps in the recruitment of graduates for the Department of Indian Government, Ministries, and other Subordinate Offices. Every year around 10 lakh candidates appear for the SSC CGL examination across the country. In this article, we will discuss in detail the syllabus for the SSC CGL examination along with discussing in brief SSC CHSL 2022.

SSC CHSL 2022

The Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level or SSC CHSL exam is held by the Staff Selection Commission. This exam helps in the recruitment of candidates for different posts mentioned here:

  • Data Entry Operator(DEO).
  • Postal Assistants (PA)/ Sorting Assistants (SA).
  • Data Entry Operator (Grade A).
  • Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)/ Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC).

The Tier 1 of the SSC CHSL 2022 exam includes 100 multiple choice questions which will be held in online mode. There are four sections of total 200 marks.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern

The Tier 1 of the SSC CGL examination is qualifying in nature and is held in online mode. There are two mediums for this exam- Hindi, and English with a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The Tier 1 of SSC CGL comprises 4 sections namely- General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English language. Each section contains 25 questions with 50 marks.

The Tier 2 SSC CGL examination is held in online mode.

The candidates who crack Tier 1 of the SSC CGL exam can sit for the Tier 2 exam of SSC CGL. This exam comprises four papers based on multiple choice questions. Paper 2- English Language and Comprehension has a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Paper 1, Paper 3, and Paper 4 involve a negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer. All candidates must sit for Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 4 is a written paper for the post of Assistant Accounts Officer or Assistant Audit Officer.

Tier 3 of the SSC CGL examination consists of 1 paper with a total of 100 marks with a time duration of 1 hour.

The Tier 4 of the SSC CGL exam is based on skill. The paper is qualifying in nature with a time duration of 15 minutes.

Syllabus for SSC CGL Examination

Syllabus for Tier 1 SSC CGL Exam: It comprises four sections: General Awareness, General Reasoning, and Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. The General Awareness section involves topics like Science, Portfolios, Static General Knowledge, Science, Awards and honours, Geography, History, Polity, Books and Authors, Important schemes, and Current Affairs.

The General Reasoning and Intelligence section include topics like Analogy, Word- formation, Classification, Coding-Decoding, Paper folding method, Matrix, Series, Venn diagram, Verbal reasoning, Blood Relations, Emotional intelligence, Non- verbal reasoning. The Quantitative Aptitude section consists of these topics: Interest, Percentage, Problem on Ages, Simplification, Interest, Average, Ratio and Proportion, Information Interpretation, Speed, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Mensuration, Trigonometry, and Algebra. The English Comprehension includes topics like Cloze Test, Phrases and Idioms, Reading Comprehension, Spelling, Sentence Correction, One-word Substitution, Active/ Passive, Narration, and Error Spotting.

Syllabus for Tier 2 SSC CGL Exam: It consists of four sections: Quantitative Aptitude, English language, General Awareness, and Statistics. The Quantitative Aptitude involves concepts like Data Interpretation, Percentage, Simplification, Average, Distance, Speed, Time, Interest, Number System, Proportion and Ratio, Average, Algebra, Geometry, Profit and loss, Mixtures & Allegations, and Geometry. The English language includes concepts like Spelling, Idioms, and Phrases, Reading Comprehension, Fill in the blanks, Error Spotting, Word Substitution, Sentence Correction, Active/ Passive voice, and Para-jumbles.

The subject Statistics consist of topics like Measure of Dispersion, Correlation and Regression, Representation of Data, A measure of tendency, Moments and Kurtosis, Random Variables, Index Numbers, Analysis and Variances, Role of information technology in governance, Finance Commission Role & Functions. The General Awareness subject Includes topics like Finance and Accounting, Basic Accounting, Fundamental Principles, Error Spotting, and so on.
