In 2015, goods that moved solely within America’s borders accounted for $19.2 trillion and consisted of 18.1 billion tons. These figures are expected to increase to $38 trillion (roughly double) and 27 billion tons, respectively, by 2045.
The job of logisticians was placed 18th on the list of the top business jobs for 2020. Factors that were assessed were stress in the job, a proper work-life balance, available opportunities, rate of unemployment, and median salary. Although this is not the only job in the automotive industry, it is a key function throughout the life cycle of the transportation product.

Logistics management is the most visible aspect of supply chain management. It involves moving goods and materials from one place to another, for example, from the warehouse to the customer’s premises. An important factor in the flow of these items is information. Something has to prompt a movement from A to B to C, etc., at every stage from start to finish.
The range of jobs this involves is huge. There are admin and clerical staff, warehouse operatives, transport administrators, packers, and other manual jobs. Preparation for a Job in Logistics and Transportation
Assuming that you are not keen to start your career doing manual labor, you will need a suitable qualification. A bachelor’s degree will enable you to move into a middle-level position, even management. However, you can gain experience first while studying online.
The technical skills you will need for a good position can be gained on the shop floor or through your studies. These include specialist knowledge pertaining to the specific job, data analysis, reading spreadsheets, an ability to calculate pricing and determine delivery times.
As in any job, you will need to demonstrate people skills such as conflict management, effective communication, teamwork, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Another requirement is to possess certain soft skills that would include the ability to plan and organize, being solutions-orientated, accountable, performance-driven, and innovative.

It has already been mentioned that there are numerous job choices in logistics and transportation. On the logistics side, you could become a logistics director, logistics manager, or logistics administrator. Under transport, positions are transport manager and transport administrator. Other options are a warehouse manager and warehouse administrator, based in warehousing, or an inventory controller.
